Things at 18 I don’t do at 28 anymore

It might  look like 10 minutes, but time has flown. Day after day or even year after year we don’t even realize how much we change, do we? Well maybe some of us do, especially when we deliberately try to improve our traits. Now with a decade gap in between,  it’s so much easier to point out what we were/ were not and what we are/are not.
Here is a humble, brief list of mine:

What we value – Part I

What’s really important in life? Money, power, possessions, status, job…, family, friends… freedom… or time? I can’t deny that at some point all the above might be important, but not equally important at the same time, except time itself, the most precious and yet it’s always being taken for granted. However, time is the only thing I am not focusing on, in this post so let’s get it started with all the rest:

  • Money

= Can’t really live without money. You will need food at some point, won’t you? + other basics.

= As for the rest, it remains a necessary mean to do important things in life such as travelling and exploring, going to concerts of your favorite bands, buying more books. With these experiences you will make so many good memories and life changing experiences. I plan to buy a professional camera soon, for my photography hobby and ehm… well yeah it’s not that cheap.

Want More Do More

Talking about creativity a couple of weeks ago, it made me think…

Of course there are tons of creative and talented people in our country, some of them not that easy to notice and some have managed to distinguish themselves through hard work, persistence, deliberate practice and at some point they have managed to come up with a brilliant idea.

Numbers of these kind of people are quite low, truly so if we focus on the real life scenarios, what happens? Do we lack creativity? Does creativity involve just some of us working in specific fields such as arts like writing, painting, music, acting, graphic design or maybe science, inventors… etc etc. Is this it?

Why worry

Not worrying is one of the most difficult battles one needs to face in his/her life. Without even realizing what we are doing or not doing, our lives pass us by and we have spent a good deal of time just worrying, preventing ourselves to make some good plans and take action.

Why didn’t I think of it before?

What was I thinking?

Very common questions, right? I am not suggesting that things are always easy to work out. However, tons of times we are our own isolating walls. Again, I do not think that “In the end everything will turn up all right.” because, sometimes it doesn’t happen. However, that is not equal to an ETERNAL MISERY sentence.

Good Bad :p

I think we all know the importance of being always tuned with positivity . Choose good examples in order to be the next good example to somebody else. Do I virtually sense, someone nodding? 😀

You deliberately choose to stay with people who support you, people who share the same values. And it might sound tricky, as when I say values it doesn’t mean having the same perspective and it really  makes the difference, because you will be mentally challenged. When it comes to improvement, challenge is a key word. Cool!

Guts over Fear

Untitled

The song is beautiful, the words make it even more because of the enormous, deep message they carry.

When you are safe in your little happy routine, in your cozy comfort zone, it’s so hard to take a step further. A step outside means you are out in the “dark”. It means you are vulnerable… well uncomfortable is the right word.

You know that there are lots of wrong things with your current comfort zone despite all the benefits. You know that at some point you will need to take that risk, not saying face life blindfolded but heeeeell you need to take a chance for yourself, when an “opportunity” presents itself. Most of the times others spend an eternity looking for one and never find it, or maybe they do, but are unable to overcome their fears. Thus, if you are looking, it means that deep down, that comfort zone of yours is not that comfortable after all.

Tsunami of Expectations

viktor-jakovlev-36797.jpg

So I happened to read one of my friends’ post on facebook which was about expectations. It really gave me something to think about and also the right trigger to write this post. So before getting started, first things first. That means: “How does something I am being asked to do, affect me?”, “What about my well-being?”. It might sound selfish, but honestly, between that and being “selfless” putting myself at risk, I prefer selfish or self-centered thousands of times.

True also that, lots of us are inclined to meet others’ expectations, exceed them without even getting where we are going or what we are doing to ourselves. Others might be parents, partners, bosses, colleagues, friends etc.

I am not a fish

Iamnotafish5

I am going to be honest with you all. I haven’t been writing for quite a long time. The reason is quite simple, I didn’t want to.

The ” I don’t want to…” freaked me out. Since I was scared to admit that I didn’t want to do one of the most therapeutic things in this world which further more is also one of the things I love the most,  I was making up excuses: “I don’t feel like it…” “I don’t have time…” “I have nothing to write about…” and wait the worst is yet to come: “I am a complete mess, what the hell will I be writing about? I tried to be a good example of positive thinking and now I will spread what, the complete opposite? How incapable I am of surpassing it all? No one needs that!

But I do, even though it’s not easy at all.

Why “Bitches” get it their own way

bitch

Have you heard of these books: “Why Men Love Bitches?” or “Why Men Marry Bitches?”? Have you read any of them?

Ok, I’ve read the first and I found it really interesting. It’s a fun and useful guide, comparing the Nice Girl with the Bitch one. The HUGE message, I squeezed out of it?  Be a “Bitch”!

First, what does it even mean? In the book context, means: (ta ta ta) being a strong, independent, intelligent, self-confident woman. It means to stick to your own values and principles, not to trade-off your dignity for mere volatile and superficial attention (affection). It means knowing your self-worth and that you have all the rights in the world to be respected, treasured, loved and cherished. And the very first one who needs to realize this, is, YOU!

The Uncomfortable Ones

Sometimes you can’t avoid an argument.

Sometimes you can’t avoid but fight back and speak up.

We usually admire the strong people who are able to do such, specially for the right thing. Let’s also keep in mind that this admiration usually is a stand alone one and quite often from a safe distance.

These strong people choose to “do the right thing” at their own expenses, for they appear to be “The Uncomfortable Ones” from a short distance, not so easy to be around with. Subdued attitude is not part of their personality.
