Waterfall

I visited Podgorica this Sunday. Besides the pleasure of going to a place where I had not been before and finding a new reality, I also realized that I tend to underestimate the pleasure of little things that make me feel alive.

This means, that it really doesn’t matter where I go, what matters is to take the initiative to do things I like and that make me richer; richer with experience, knowledge, memories and last but not least also happy.

The little trip was tiring physically, but refreshing mentally… eehhmmm maybe not the right choice of words, but just trying to say that it was wonderful and it filled my heart with joy , especially Podgorica’s Niagara waterfall.

True, that I am not the typical outdoors person, specially when it comes to nature. I have underestimated nature’s effects on mood and thoughts, lately. Probably because, once it was much easier to connect with nature and because my days weren’t as busy with work and everyday errands I have to run, as they are now.

Summer Vacations in Albania

Lukove beach

I just got back from my vacations and what I will talk about is not the bright side but the other side of the coin which sometimes leaves me confused and perplexed.

You see Albania is a work of magic. If Nature could cast a spell, then Albania happens to be a blessing one at it with marvellous landscapes, countryside, wonderful seashore, pretty mesmerizing and with a vast variety of choices…Beaches with white sand, crystal clear water, rocky ones too where the powerful and patient waves have done their job all over the millenia.

Vacations Yes But

sea
Cape of Rodon, Albania

Next week I am going on vacation. I can’t describe how excited I am. Everything has been planned and scheduled, some things to be handled before leaving the city, but the most important tasks already checked.

A few little details are still in pending, and when you have plenty of time ahead, the estimated impact looks insignificant, but when time is due it might look nerve breaking.

Examples?

Summer, I am here for you

I have been a tourist, but my aim is to become a traveler.

This last weekend in Montenegro was refreshing, being on the road, feeling the hot sun, and the warm breeze enveloping my face, messing up my hair, tangling with my colorful earrings. And my desperate attempt to look like a airily, fancy model (wanna be), failed… miserably, but it doesn’t matter, it was fun trying to speak fast with my head out of the window.  It felt like driving in the air. We could see the crystal clear Adriatic sea right beneath us.
We stayed in Kotor, incredible and mesmerizing. The sea, the landscape, the old town, all in one. Could I possibly ask for more?

Kotor

The next day it was Herceg Novi

And the last one Budva

When in Rome…

It was the first time and it wouldn’t be the last, when I visited Rome2014-07-02 13.00.18 back in 2012. I stayed for a month back then, but due to my busy work schedule I was only able to enjoy the city on weekends. It felt rewarding though, working hard all week and then replenish my energies sightseeing, find and explore the artisan ice cream spots. The more the merrier. Eating granita2014-07-02 16.21.58 till my head hurt, my teeth getting numb and I could barely feel my tongue! There are some things, that wherever you carry on doing, will always remind you of something in particular. Those little habits remind of Rome.
It is not just about the Piazzas, nevertheless they are amazing, Piazza San Pietro, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna or the museums,La Fontana di Trevi and so on… it’ s about the city itself. Despite being constantly busy, 24/7 awake and very much alive there is something about the place that feels so unique to me.
I literally fell in love with the little corners, little piazzas and fountains, with the small and simple yet so refreshing caffe’s and snack bars.  I fell in love with the narrow streets so ancient and the chilly goose bumpy alleys which felt like luring you to hear the echo of some horror story of a few centuries ago, the very idea of stepping over the so old stones holding a history of their own.  I fell in love with street artists coming from all over the world and the handmade jewelry, instantly ready to your taste.
