The song is beautiful, the words make it even more because of the enormous, deep message they carry.
When you are safe in your little happy routine, in your cozy comfort zone, it’s so hard to take a step further. A step outside means you are out in the “dark”. It means you are vulnerable… well uncomfortable is the right word.
You know that there are lots of wrong things with your current comfort zone despite all the benefits. You know that at some point you will need to take that risk, not saying face life blindfolded but heeeeell you need to take a chance for yourself, when an “opportunity” presents itself. Most of the times others spend an eternity looking for one and never find it, or maybe they do, but are unable to overcome their fears. Thus, if you are looking, it means that deep down, that comfort zone of yours is not that comfortable after all.
You want more. You want to do what you love. You want to grow professionally and as a human being and this is becoming so rare and uncommon. But first? You need to embrace this side of yours. Meaning? You will need to accept the whole package, the need to grow comes with the need to face new challenges, unravel your fair set of knots. It comes with the need to face some nasty demons, your demons. It means to conquer the unknown. And this is what will bring you that growth you look so much forward to.
It will be hard. It will be painful. You might want to quit. You might want to reverse time and go back. Sometimes you will regret your decision. You will feel desperate. Alone. Sad. Misunderstood. You will complain. You will whine. You will cry your eyes out. Damn, you will even doubt your own self, but if you take that road you aren’t going back.
No, not because it’s a failure. Not because you are afraid of being weak, but because due to hardships you overcome, you become stronger and richer. Don’t you love that feeling? Doesn’t your personal accomplishment give you pleasure?
This is what you are, isn’t it? No matter what, you can’t betray the you, you have become.
Be wise and be lucid to face the facts. Don’t try to change them. Don’t try to change what’s not in your power. Deal with it and keep going.
Your new you will always be grateful to the visionary old you 🙂 I am sure of that.
